The Star Wars film series has had video game spin-offs nearly since its inception. The first crude adaptation was Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back for the Atari 2600 back in 1982.

Since David Beckham has returned to the England team there has been much speculation that he would not join LA Galaxy in the summer. Now this has been fuelled by a claim from the Real Madrid President, Ramon Calderon, that he would like Beckham to remain with the club and that there could be a buy out clause in his contract which would bring about his release.

One of my favorite vacation spots is Placer County, Calif., not least of all because it's a fantastic area for golf. There are all levels of facilities, ranging from nine-hole Par-3 golf courses to several PGA-level resorts where you can choose which 18-hole course you'd like to play. About half of the 30 or so courses in the area are public, with the other half private. There are also about a half-dozen municipal courses. The public and municipal courses are all call-ahead, although you may be able to walk on for nine holes on a spring or fall weeknight. The private courses admittedly are a bit tougher to get into to play, but most have started public days once or twice a week. Worse comes to worse, call up the pro shop to ask if a member could invite you in to show you the course.

Mention shopping in London and the words “Oxford Street” and “Harrods” quickly come to mind. Both offer excellent choices for the discerning shopper, but, for anyone who wants to avoid the clamour of Central London, an out of town mall is an alternative.

The Between the Bays Music Festival is a drawcard for locals and also tourists who get to rock out to some of the most respected musicians in the country and at the same time imbibe the fantastic foods and wines that are making the Mornington Peninsula a must-visit destination.

France had been instrumental in the cause for American liberty, a war that ended in 1783 and resulted in long term treaties between the two countries. By 1797, however, relations rapidly deteriorated, culminating in the Quasi War, a naval conflict between American and French ships fought primarily in the Caribbean. The Federalist dominated Congress had strengthened the navy and voted two million dollars for war preparedness. The confrontation with France monopolized policy during the Adams’ presidency, both internationally and internally.

Prior to the 1500s, most farmers in Europe were peasants, practicing subsistence farming on small land holdings. Even through the Renaissance, the techniques and productivity of farming and general agriculture had changed very little in Western Europe since Roman times. Most peasants produced about 20% more crops than they needed to feed their own families, livestock and have for next year’s seed.

On September 7, 2010, Canadian Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Jason Kenney will arrive in New Delhi India to discuss immigration fraud. Kenney will urge the Indian government to spend more money on law enforcement resources to combat this fraud and to share information with Canada. Kenney will leave for India from Paris where he is meeting with representatives from France, Britain, Italy, Germany and the US to discuss ways of combating human smuggling.

The pilot of Off The Map, "The Great White Way", featured three young doctors coming to a clinic in an undisclosed jungle location in Central/South America. Lily Brenner (Caroline Dhavernas), Tommy Fuller (Zach Gilford) and Mina Minard (Mamie Gummer - Meryl Streep's daughter) arrive at the clinic, not speaking a word of Spanish, and running from their pasts. Dr. Ben Keeton (Martin Henderson) is the head doctor. Some other doctors at the clinic are Dr. Otis Cole (Jason George, from Grey's Anatomy), Dr. Zita Alvarez (Valerie Cruz) and Dr. Ryan Clark (Rachelle Lefevre, from Twilight.)

The few short scripture verses in John 19:25-27 that tell of Jesus' making arrangements from the cross for the care of his widowed mother, Mary, are a lesson in family love to Christians everywhere.
